Explorer Program Details
Our Station is proud to host an explorer program for persons
ages from 14-20. Participation in this exciting program allows students
who might be interested in a career in Firefighting and/or EMS to explore in
detail what these careers entail. Cadets meet twice a month for training
sessions and receive certification in CPR.
Cadets are encouraged to ride along on apparatus at other times during the month that fit into their schedule. Doing so
allows "up-close and personal" insight into what it means to be a Firefighter
or Paramedic through first-hand observations on runs, participation in daily
house chores, and helping with public education events. Those who later pursue
a career in these fields benefit not only from the training they receive and
activities in which they participate, but also from close mentoring by many of
our career members as well.
